Sound installation Abortus (mala soba)
Red Dawns 7
Abortus includes two works which approach and explore the problematics of abortion through sound and image. Minimalistic in form, the works confront the audience with issues, information and facts that are related to abortion but often neglected. On one hand, Abortus questions identity, cyborgs, reality, ultrasound, reasons, opponents, media and the spectacle of abortion. On the other, it outlines the present situation with a cartographic approach that is supported by text.
Vita Žgur is an undergraduate student of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. For the sound installation Abortus she has received the Prešeren Award for Students.
